text: Oct. 26. In the Christian army at Jaffa. At the request of King Richard I of England and in return for the service of Genoa in the siege of Acre and in the recovery of the kingdom of Jerusalem, Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex VIIIus, grants the Genoese, represented by Morinus filius Rodoani de Platea Longa consul de comuni, who with other nobles had fought the Sarraceni in the siege of Acre, confirmation of all the rights they and all those living between Portovenere and Monaco were known to have had in the city of Acre before its conquest. He confirms their right to enter, reside in and leave with all their goods by land or sea without the payment of dues [drictura]. Witnesses: Guafridus de Lezigniaco comes Ioppensis; Aimericus constabularius regni Ierosolimitani; Hugo Tyberiadis; Galuenus de Cheniche; Gaufridus Tortus; Hugo Martini; Gazellus. The charter was drawn up by Girardus capellanus regis.
