The church of S. Theodorus is part of the hereditas. Bohemond adds the gift to the Hospitaller commandery [domus] of Antioch of a rua, which is in his domain [dominium] and extends from the front of the commandery, near the house of dominus Petrus … as far as the rua that goes to the fons del Naquaire. With the agreement of his wife domna Ysabella regis Amalrici filia, Aimery, per dei gratiam rex Ierusalem nonus et rex Cipri, records under seal that he has sold the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans a casale in the region of Acre called Aguille with its villani and gastinae for 3000 Saracen besants. He adds the following gifts: the right to take a rotula of sugar each day from the sugar press [masarium] in his casale called Fiergio for the needs of the sick in the hospital; in Casale Vmberti and his other casalia in the region of Acre the right to take each year 1 clicha of wheat and 1 clicha of barley from every worked carruca, to be provided by the rustici; 5 carrublae paid by the rustici for every 100 goats wintering in Aimery’s land, and 2 out of the 10 carrublae which Aimery levies for every 10 goats; 3 karrublae provided by the rustici for every carrucata owing Aimery 2 besants. Aimery confirms the eleemosynary gifts and old freedom [francisia] granted to the hospital in Cyprus by King Amalric. Iohannes de Ybelino domnus Beriti et regni Ierosolimitani baiulus records how Iohannes Tortus came into his presence, and that of the High Court [regalis curia] and asked of Iohannes de Ybelino and the vassals [homines] of the Lady Maria, regni honorabilis domna, licence to sell his house in Acre to settle his debts. After taking counsel from the vassals of the Lady [Maria], Iohannes de Ybelino judged that the licence could not be granted. On the response of Iohannes Tortus that he would have to sell either his fief [feodum] or his house to pay his debts, the court decided to change its decision and permit Iohannes Tortus to sell his house in order to retain his fief. And so, in the presence of the baiulus Iohannes de Ybelino, who sealed the charter, and of the High Court [regalis curia] and with the agreement of Maria, the wife of Iohannes Tortus, his sister Beatrix and her husband Willelmus de Monliart, Iohannes Tortus sold his house to the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans in Acre for 2700 Saracen besants. The house is bordered on the east by the houses of Mt Tabor and of Beloais, the royal way [via regia] and the houses that belonged to Petrus Bordin, on the west, by the house of Bonefrage filius Sahit, the rua Judeorum, the house of the Jews and the stable [stabulum] of Renerius scriptor, on the north by the house of Maria, the wife of the late priest of the church of St Mary Magdalene, and on the south by the royal way [via regia] and the house held by domna Hauhis of Iohannes Tortus. In return for her agreement to the surrender of this house, the brothers of the Hospital of St Mary have given Hauhis 300 Saracen besants and 2 marchae argenti. The Lady Maria has had 200 besants from the brothers of the Hospital for her agreement to the sale. text: Aug. 1-31. John, dei gratia Latinorum Ierusalem rex decimus et comes Brene, confirms under seal a gift made by his subject Garnerus Alamannus to the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans in Acre. The gift comprises land, bought by Garnerus from Iulianus de Faloisse, in which there is a lime kiln [calidus furnus]. To the north is a road and to the south a hill. Garnerus also gave a garden, bordering on the south the threshing floors [areae] of Tarsia. In that land there is a corner of wasteland and on the western side is a mulberry tree [morus] and a field called Migramme. Above is a piece of land [frustrum terre] bordering on the land of the house of the Holy Sepulchre and on the east, towards the hill, is some land and a half-ruined vouta, in which there is a cistern and a wine-press [vrequinnus ad racemos decalcandos]. Cardinal Pelagius of Albano, the papal legate, issues a sealed confirmation of the sale made by Simon Tirensis archiepiscopus, in the presence of Patriarch Ralph of Jerusalem, the bishops of Bethlehem and Valenia [Valiensis], the magister of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, and the abbots of Mt Sion, Templum Domini, and St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, to Eustorgius Nicosiensis archiepiscopus of the casale in Cyprus called Livadi for 2200 Saracen besants. The casale had been given to the archbishop and church of Tyre by King Aimery. The magister of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem promised to transfer the cash to the archbishop of Tyre.
