text: *September. Devol. Bohemond of Taranto agrees to become a vassal of the Byzantine empire for Antioch, which he will hold of the Emperor Alexius and his son John as a liegeman [ἀνθρωπος λίζιος] with the title of dux. The possessions granted to him are specified: the city of Antioch; Port St Simeon; Dux; Kaukas; Lulon; Thaumaston Oros; Phersia; the military district of St Elias; Baghras; the military district of Larissa [Shaizar]; the military districts of Artah and Telouch; Marash and the Amanus Mountains, Palatza and the theme of Zume. Bohemond is given licence to expand eastwards to Aleppo and into Cappadocia and Mesopotamia, including Edessa and the themes of Limnioi and Aetos. The territories occupied by the Armenians in Cilicia are excluded and Bohemond will surrender all claims to Latakia, Gibel, Valenia, Maraclea and Tortosa and will allow the appointment of a Greek patriarch of Antioch
