The canons in return renounce their claim for a rent of 200 besants taken from the revenues [in redditu] of Nablus. In the presence of Patriarch Stephen [of Chartres] of Jerusalem and the witnesses listed below, the king orders Paganus his cancellarius to draw up the charter and attach his lead seal. text: Jul. 27 1128 – Jun. 2 1129. Because the heavy duties levied in the port of Acre gravely weigh down pilgrims, Baldwin, dei gratia rex Iherusalem Latinorum secundus, makes an eleemosynary grant at the request of Patriarch Stephen. He frees the pilgrims coming to Palestine from the payment of any duty [datio census] on cloth or on all other goods they bring with them up to the value of 40 besants. If the pilgrims assure the custodes portus that the goods are for their own use, no tax will be levied. If necessity forces the pilgrims to sell any surplus in the port, they should pay what is customary and right.

Baldwin, dei gratia rex Hierusalem Latinorum secundus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant, giving St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, Gelduinus abbas and his successors a casale called Bestella/Befella in the territory of Tyre. The king also gives another casale called Sardanas which is close to [ante] the city of Tyre, except for part of the land between the mountain and the king’s viridarium, which he retains for his own use. He orders Paganus his cancellarius to seal the charter with his lead seal.Witnesses: Milissenda filia regis et regni Ierosolimitani haeres; Hugo Ioppe dominus; Ansellus de Bria; Barianus Iope constabularius; Ioannes camerarius; Hulricus Neapolis vicecomes; Bernardus Vaccarius; Hemelinus vicecancellarius, who wrote the charter. The king adds a codicil stating that at the request of the abbot Gelduinus he has given the church of Mt Sion 2 carrucatae terrae in the casale of Sardanas.

text: Mar. 1 – Sept. 23. Jerusalem. In the royal palatium. Baldwin, dei gratia rex Ierusalem Latinorum secundus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He confirms under his seal everything given in the reigns of his predecessors to the Hospital. He confirms those gifts made during his reign, specifying the following. In the territory of Jerusalem, Gosfridus de Parentea gave 4 partes terre at a place called Beccafaba. Gosfridus also gave a garden with cisterns next to the Tower of David, with roads on either side, one of which runs to Bethlehem. Adam de Ramis gave a house with a cistern inside, situated in front of the house of Guido de Miliaco and next to the Gate of the Temple, from where the road goes to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. Witnesses of Adam’s gift were: Aschetinus vicecomes; Vgo de Ramis; Gosfridus de Acula; Alfanus; Siherius de Beritto; Porcellus; Rancoldus de Ponzo. Alanus Boccerius gave a house in Jerusalem, before the witnesses: Aschetinus vicecomes; Guerricus; Hanricus Burgundio. Bernardus de Tolosia and his wife Rufa gave a house in Jerusalem situated before the church of St Martin. Alfanus gave himself and all his property and houses in the piazza of the money-changers [platea nummulariorum] in the presence of the witnesses: Paganus Cesariensis electus, olim cancellarius tantum; Vgo comes Trescensis; Gosfridus de Parentea; Aschetinus vicecomes; Rodulfus camerarius; Rainaldus de Ponzo; Gosfridus Acula; Siherius de Beritto; Porcellus. In the territory of Acre, Barda Armenus and his wife, with the agreement of their children, gave their casale called Coketum. In the territory of Acre, Airaldus cognomine Barba gave half of a casale called Iebethza and Aldeburgis, the sister of Lambertus cambiator, gave the other half. In the territory of Caesarea Gosfridus de Flaiaco, together with Johannes de Bethsam and his brother Vgo de Bethsam gave a casale called Calansue. In the territory of Lydda Vgo de Rammis gave 2 casalia called Bethiben and Gendas in a grant confirmed by Vgo Ioppensis domnus. The charter was drawn up by Hemelinus vicecancellarius noster.

text: Sept. 27 1130 - Aug 21 1131. Baldwin, dei gratia rex Iherusalem Latinorum secundus, had made a sealed eleemosynary grant to the church of the Holy Sepulchre, represented by Wilelmus prior and the canons. He had given a casale called Cafermelech in the territory of Nablus with all its lands and villani, except for 2 villani who had been transferred by Romanus de Podio to the casale of Betheflori. In return the canons of the Holy Sepulchre had surrendered their claim on 200 besants, which they had from the revenues [redditus] of Nablus. At the canons’ request Baldwin now restores the 2 rustici with their progeny and heirs, to the Holy Sepulchre and Petrus eiusdem prior. He does this in the presence and with the agreement of [Fulk] comes Andegavensis and Milissende his daughter. In the presence of Patriarch William [of Malines] of Jerusalem he orders Amelinus, his cancellarius, to write the charter and attach his lead seal. Witnesses: Petrus capellanus regis; Radulfus camerarius regis; Martinus de Nazareth; Anscatinus vicecomes Iherusalem; Olricus vicecomes Neapolis and many others.

text: Sept. 21. Caesarea. G[ualterius] cognomento Granerius Cesaree et Sydonie Dei gratia dominus, together with his wife Juliana and with the consent of his barones, makes an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He confirms all the gifts and eleemosynary grants made by his father Eustachius, who gave: houses in Caesarea with two curtiles and freedom from taxation on sales and purchases; a casale outside Caesarea called Aldefie; houses with curtiles in Cacho; curtiles given by G., the lord’s vicecomes, and Alo, for which the lord of Caesarea had made an exchange; 4 carrugae terrae ad serendum et garetandum at Cacho and 2 carrugae given by H. Lumbardus with the consent of Eustachius. Galterius has himself given 2 carrugae terrae ad serendum et garetandum in Cafarsalem and a further 2 from the land [a principio terre] of Rambaldus, which is worked in Marescum on the road to the river. If that land fails the Hospital will be given up to 4 carrugae terrae ad serendum et garetandum of the better land to be found in Sabulone. He also gives the Hospital Calumzum. His charter is confirmed by: G. Granerius; domina Juliana; W. de S. Wilelmus de Buris, with the consent of Fulk, rex Francorum tertius, and of his nephews Radulfus de Ysis et Symon, makes an eleemosynary grant to the church of the Holy Sepulchre. He gives 2 casalia called Gebul and Helkar. Their lands stretch longitudinally from the mountains through the plain to the Jordan and latitudinally from the boundary between the lordship of Bethsan and and the territory of Tiberias to a cava, which is next to a casale called Huxenia, and extends in a straight line to the aforesaid mountain and river. He also gives the canons of the Holy Sepulchre the use of all his fisheries [piscariae] for 8 days each year. They may take any week in the period from Septuagesima to Easter, but if on any of those days the Sea [of Galilee] is turbulent they may choose another day to fish. He also gives them all the labour services [tota angaria et auxilium] of his own fisherman for one day a year. And he gives them the right to have a boat [navis] on the Sea of Galillee. King Fulk confirms this gift with his seal. He gives the Hospital a house in Jerusalem which he had been given to him by King Baldwin I. The house is to be held with full rights, except that Balduinus can lodge in it when he comes to Jerusalem. It is situated between the Hospital’s oven and mill. In return Balduinus is given by Rogerius Paganus, frater noster, a house in Beirut. The exchange is made in the presence of Balduinus.
