text: Sept. 12. The sultan of Aleppo issues a privilege to the Venetians, represented by Thomaxinus Foscarini, sent as emissary by Doge Pietro Ziani. The Venetians are assured of security. They will pay 6 per cent on merchandise. They are assured of their goods in shipwreck and of the security of their property should they die. Merchants in general will not suffer for the wrongdoings of individuals.

text: Oct. 8. The lord of Sahyun issues a privilege to the Venetians, represented by Thomaxinus Foscarini, who will pay 10 dirhams [derame] for pepper, 8 for incense and 4 and a half for cotton [bombaxum]. They are granted security and rights to property in shipwreck and on death, in which case their goods will be administered by the lord of Sahyun according to instructions from the doge and the [Venetian] bailo of Acre. Merchants in general will not suffer if an individual Venetian commits homicide.
