At the request of King Richard I of England and in return for the service of Genoa in the siege of Acre and in the recovery of the kingdom of Jerusalem, Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex VIIIus, grants the Genoese, represented by Morinus filius Rodoani de Platea Longa consul de comuni, who with other nobles had fought the Sarraceni in the siege of Acre, confirmation of all the rights they and all those living between Portovenere and Monaco were known to have had in the city of Acre before its conquest. He confirms their right to enter, reside in and leave with all their goods by land or sea without the payment of dues [drictura]. Mindful of the assistance of Genoa in the conquest of the land of Jerusalem and its aid to him and his predecessors, Henricus de Trecis comes pallatinus et Terre Hierusalem domnus and his wife Isabella regis Amalrici filia make a sealed grant, confirming the commune of Genoa in its possessions in Acre and other maritime cities. They specify a church, the right to use weights and measures [cantaria et pondera et mensurae], an oven, a bath house, a stall [bancus] on which the Genoese can sell each other meat, and a rua with houses and properties in Acre and in all the maritime cities of the kingdom, and the right to come and go, sell and buy without payment of dues. In return for the part Genoa played in the relief of Jaffa they give a casale on the plain of Jaffa called Deldoc with all its rustici and a rent [in assisa] of 400 Saracen besants assigned on the fundum of Jaffa, payable in 4 instalments. If this rent fails it will be made up from other rents in or outside Jaffa and Acre. Challengers to these gifts will be excommunicated as is conceded by Patriarch Conradus of Jerusalem and Ioscus archiepiscopus Tirensis.
