If in any year the nuntius of the Hospital cannot collect a whole quintarium of sugar, he can apply in the following year for the balance to be made up. With the agreement of Guido Ioppes et Ascalonis comes and his wife Sibilla the king’s sister, Baldwin, per dei gratiam in civitate Ierusalem sancta Latinorum rex sextus, gives under seal to Ioscelinus, his uncle and senescalcus, an annual rent of 1000 besants, drawn on the cathena of Acre in the instalments customarily paid by the cathena, and the casale called Iesce/Iesse situated in the mountains of Acre, except for half of that casale which Alemandina holds as dowry [in dotem]; after her death this will revert to Ioscelinus. The gift is made in exchange for Maron, which the king had previously given to Ioscelinus. The same service will be owed as had previously been rendered for Maron, except for the assisiae which are in the land of Maron. The king confirms the purchase by Ioscelinus from Iohannes Bogalet scriba for 150 besants of a house at Castellum Nouum, which the king had previously given to Iohannes Bogalet. The king also gives Ioscelinus Iohannes drugemannus of Castellum Nouum with his heirs and goods. Baldwin, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex sextus, confirms under seal a purchase by Ioscelinus, his uncle and senescalcus, from Gaufridus Tortus, who, with the consent of his wife Flandrina and his son Gaufridus, has sold the casalia of Elgabacie, Hourfex, Carsilia, Cassie, Dere, Feenix, Bellum Uidere, which in Arabic [Sarracenice] is called Fassoue, Camsara, Terretrame, Accabara, Soroue, Sauroefoca, Tarrebresca and Deirbasta for 6000 besants with their lands and rustici, on condition that Seit and Guillelmus, the servientes of Gaufridus, retain the feodi of the scribania and drugumanagium, which they claimed in the king’s presence. Ioscelinus will owe the servicium of 2 milites for the casalia. Gaufridus Tortus is obliged to render servicium proportionate to the rest of his fief that he has retained. Gaufridus has requested that with this sale his debts are settled, so that he may retain the rest of his feodum. He assures the Venetians of security and the freedom to come and go as they please by land and by sea, and to buy and sell throughout his principality on the payment of 1 besant in every 100 received through the sale of their merchandise. He specifies: the church of Iuuenia; the chapels of St Nicholas, St Laurence, St George, St Barbara, St Michael in mari, and St Simon; the chapel that the Maronites hold with the permission of the church of Beirut and the land next to it; the tithes of Beirut and all its territory, inhabited by Greeks, Latins and other nations; parochial rights in the city and all the diocese; a house in the city in which W., the brother of the bishop, lives; houses inhabited by W. Eraldus, M. cantor, W. With the agreement of Count Raymond III of Tripoli, Raimundus de Tribus Clavibus confirms the sale of the terra galifa and Aieslo made by his mother to the magister and brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, represented by frater Erchenbaldus Hospitalis preceptor and frater Ermanus Crati castellanus. In return, preceptor Erchenbaldus and the brothers of the Hospital in chapter give Raimundus the 2 casalia of Fauda et Sumessa, for which he will owe servicium to the Hospital according to the customs of the land of Tripoli, together with a gastina called Corcois and the dominium previously held by the Hospital over a terre carucata libera, franca in the same gastina, which Johannes de Fabbrica and his heirs ought to hold. The Hospitallers also give Raimundus for life 5 modii of wheat and 5 modii of barley cum parvo marcibano arearum, and 40 jarrae of wine, which the Hospital had as an eleemosynary gift in the casale of Fauda.
