With the agreement of his wife Isabella, the daughter of King Amalric, Aimery, per dei gratia Ierusalem Latinorum rex nonus et rex Cypri, confirms all previous gifts made to the commune of Marseille by kings of Jerusalem, in return for its assistance in acquiring their kingdom. They confirm especially whatever Marseille has in Acre and all the maritime cities through charters from King Fulk and King Amalric. In return for the assistance of Marseille in bringing aid to Jaffa and the kingdom of Cyprus with 2800 Saracen besants, the commune has freedom to enter and leave, sell and buy in Cyprus, without the payment of dues. He also gives one of the royal casalia in Cyprus, called Flacie, with all its rustici and animals. E. [Aymar Monachus] patriarch of Jerusalem and Iossius archiepiscopus and all the prelates are instructed to excommunicate all who challenge these confirmations and gifts. [257] Bohemond, the son of Prince Bohemond of Antioch, Dei gratia Tripolis comes, records an agreement with Matheus Minchet vicecomes Pisanorum Tripoli, and Gandulfus, Bandinus and Ugo, emissaries [nuncii] of the consules of the Pisans in Acre. Petrus Tripolis episcopus had challenged the rights of free entry and departure with merchandise from Tripoli and the exemption of a third part of terciaria. The Pisans had claimed that the count had no rights in the funda of the Pisans in Tripoli or over the entry or departure from Tripoli with merchandise. Bohemond confirms that the Pisans already had these rights and receives in exchange a gift of 500 Saracen besants. He adds the following gifts: the right to take a rotula of sugar each day from the sugar press [masarium] in his casale called Fiergio for the needs of the sick in the hospital; in Casale Vmberti and his other casalia in the region of Acre the right to take each year 1 clicha of wheat and 1 clicha of barley from every worked carruca, to be provided by the rustici; 5 carrublae paid by the rustici for every 100 goats wintering in Aimery’s land, and 2 out of the 10 carrublae which Aimery levies for every 10 goats; 3 karrublae provided by the rustici for every carrucata owing Aimery 2 besants. Aimery confirms the eleemosynary gifts and old freedom [francisia] granted to the hospital in Cyprus by King Amalric.
