text: Dec. 25 1107 – first half of 1108. Baldwin, dei gratia rex Hierosolimorum, makes the eleemosynary grant. He gives the church of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat a casale called Aschar, situated close by Nablus. The casale is bounded by a valley next to a deserted village/waste land [gastina] called Thera and runs as far as a great valley that leads to Thopas. Among the casale’s dependencies are a gastinula called Fondoch, a market building [funda] in the old city of Sichar, and a land called Dorsum asini, which is near [contra] the casale of Bethphorum. Baldwin, dei gratia Ierosolimorum rex, makes an eleemosynary grant to St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, confirming the donation, made by Pisellus his viscount, his wife and brother, of 3 casalia, Meschium, Deleseu and Micheel, of which Meschium is beyond Mons Gaudii to the left of the road that leads to Nablus; Deleseu and Micheel are next to and on the right hand side of the road that leads to the River Jordan. The lands attached to the casalia have been defined by the viscount with his notarius.
