[159] Bohemond III, Dei gratia princeps Antiochenus and son of Prince Raymond, confirms under seal the possession in feodum by his homo ligius Gauterius/Gunterius de Lattor, of an annual rent of 2000 besants, drawn from the cloth market [platea telarum] called Sochelbes at Gabulum, on the same terms as his father Robertus de Surdis Vallibus and grandfather Gauterius, the father of Robertus, had held it. Bohemond retains for himself the novenarius of the besants. If the revenues of the platea are not sufficient in any year, the deficit will be made up from other rents in Gabulum. Baldwin, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex sextus, confirms under seal the leasing to his uncle and senescalcus Ioscelinus Edessani comitis filius by Hugo iuvenis the son of Hugo Bibliensis, with the agreement of his wife Stephania, of the Terra de Sancto Georgio and the wardship of the sons [baiulatio puerorum] of Ada Bethsamitis for 7 years on the annual payment in rent [censualiter] of 600 besants, payable in August. Ioscelinus, who makes a down payment to Hugo of 1300 besants, will enjoy all the fruits and revenues, but will render to the king the servicium owed for the property. All forfeits imposed judicially in the period will be shared with Hugo. If Hugo and his wife wish to establish a mansio in the territory during the period, the land needed for this should be returned to him. If Ioscelinus should supply the rustici with anything that belongs to him, it should be returned once the lease is ended. These include: the place where the house is located in Acre; houses situated in front of it, rented from the crown of Jerusalem; houses and a curtis behind the church of Sancta Caterina de Campo Belli in the suburb of Acre; houses in the campus of the bishop of Acre; a garden commonly called Quatreboches, situated between the cemetery of St Nicholas and the city ditch of Acre and rented from the bishop of Acre for 8 besants; an annual rent of 40 Saracen besants granted by King John of Jerusalem and Queen Maria and drawn from the revenues of the crown in Acre; a vineyard, garden and land, with a tower and houses built on them, situated by the sea next to the bovaria Templi, which is rented for 12 besants a year from the nuns of St Lazarus of Bethany; the church and hospital of St Michael outside the walls of Caesarea, together with land and a garden attached to them; 2 casalia called Belveer and Casalin; an annual rent of 100 modii of Caesarea weight of wheat, taken at harvest time from the threshing floors of the church of Caesarea; houses in the suburb of Jaffa; the church and hospital of St Nicholas in the city of Beirut, with houses adjacent; gardens, vineyards and lands in the territory of Beirut, together with an annual rent of 18 modii of wheat and 50 jarta of wine in royal measures, collected at vintage time; an annual rent of 12 Saracen besants, drawn from the revenues of the city and territory of Beirut, given by the late King Baldwin to the church and hospital of St Nicholas. The pope confirms exemption from tithes on noval lands and freedom of election of the minister.
