Wishing to reward those who are helping him defend Tyre and with the advice and consent of magister Monachus Cesariensis archiepiscopus, domnus Litardus Nazarenus archiepiscopus, domnus Odo Sydonie episcopus, frater Terri domus milicie Templi magnus preceptor and other Knights Templar, frater Burellus magnus preceptor Hospitalis and other brother Hospitallers, and the milites and burgenses of Tyre and all the comune civitatis, Corradus, the son of the marquess of Montferrat, makes a sealed grant to the burgenses of St Gilles and Montpellier and the cives of Nîmes, Marseille and Barcelona, represented by Petrus Cebaldus, Bernardus Ascie, Bernardus de Bresciacha, Raimundus de Mozano, Petrus de Monuello, Brisogaualdan and Paganus Sancti Egidii, consuls of the aforesaid comunes, and Petrus de Mezoaco vicecomes of the aforesaid people [gens]. He grants the freedom of Tyre; the right to have a curia; the right to enter and leave by land or sea without the payment of terciaria or other drictura; the offices of vicecomes and consul to preside over the curia, which can judge the scapuli and burgenses and all who lease property from the aforesaid comunes in all cases, except for sentences of blood [de furto rapina raptu tradicione et mortis dacione et si ferro moluto aliquem percusserint, unde sanguis extrahatur] which are reserved to the royal curia. He grants the palacium viride, a casale called Maraclea and an oven situated before the house of domna Vita. He assures them of security of possessions in cases of shipwreck; freedom of movement throughout the kingdom unimpeded by subjects of the crown or barones; and the right to their own weights and measures [statera et pensae et modia et mensurae] to use when dealing with one another in wine, oil and all things. Should the cities of the kingdom be recovered, they will enjoy the same rights in them as have been conceded in Tyre.
