Pope Gregory IX informs the preceptor and brothers of the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans in Acre that according to the terms of the agreement reached between the emperor Frederick and the subjects of the kingdom of Jerusalem, the prince of Antioch is to become bajulus and hold all the land, including the city of Tyre. But the citadel of Tyre is to be held by the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans on behalf of the emperor and his son Conrad.

Pope Gregory IX wishes the brothers in Acre of the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans to answer the claims of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem that St Mary should be subject to St John, drawing attention to letters of Popes Celestine II, who subjected the German house [in Jerusalem] to the Hospital of St John, and Adrian IV. Gregory orders the brothers of St Mary to prepare their reply by the Michaelmas.

With respect to the claims of the magister and brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem to authority over the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans, Pope Gregory IX orders the brothers of the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans in Acre, who have been claiming that with the death of their magister they are not held to reply immediately to the Holy See, to answer to the charges of the Hospital of St John and present their case to the Holy See by the next 30 November.
