text: May 4. Sutri. Pope Eugenius III confirms for Pons abbas of Mt Tabor the privilege issued by Pope Paschal II on Jul. 29 1103. The pope reiterates that the abbey of Mt Tabor is under papal protection. He reconfirms the abbey’s possessions granted by Godfrey of Bouillon and his successor King Baldwin I. He lists the casalia that ought to belong to the abbey: Boria ad pedem Montis Thabor; Damia; Saronia; Cafarseth; Lubia; Sisara; Casta; Capharkeme; Messa; Meschia; Mangana; Capharmeza; Caphartamaraa; Endor; Maluph; Cara; Nurith; Sulem; Elfulem; Eumesara; Naim; Erbeth; Caimun; Capharsuma in the territory of Acre; Desurchain in the territory of Tyre; Alme ad turonem Salpheth; Alme; Neeme in terra Belinas; in terra Sueth: Auara, Zaar, Elleeram, Petaras, Arthe, Taletap, Capharsalia; in terra de Grosso villano: Aingene, Seecip, Eusenia, Sesia; Elgor; Zepheria in terra Auran Ain; in terra de Bethanie, Zera, Alcotaim, Menan, Hecdix. The abbey has parochial rights in Boria villa and the other parishes that belong to it. The monks can levy tithes on those casalia belonging to the abbey that are held by Christian milites. The pope repeats that Pons has metropolitan rights over all Galilee and and the Tiberiade and has the right to wear the pallium. The pope also affirms the right of the abbey to elect its own abbot, to have him consecrated by any Latin bishop in the patriarchate or, in a case of vacancy or refusal, to employ any bishop it wishes. The pope also protects the abbey’s possessions from episcopal interference.
