text: Late 1212. [292] Abbot Gervase of Prémontré assures King John of Jerusalem of the prayers of the Premonstratensians for him, his wife the queen and his daughter. Responding to a request for [spiritual advice], Gervase reminds the king of St John, who stood at the foot of the cross, and assures him that he has been providentially chosen. He prays that he will be strengthened and protected. He appeals for assistance and protection for the brothers of the abbey of St Samuel. He recommends magister O., a brother of his Order, whom he is sending to Palestine.

text: (1215). [303] Abbot Gervase of Prémontré thanks King John of Jerusalem for his letter and rejoices in the good health of the king and his daughter. He and his chapter are saddened by the state of the Holy Land. He encourages the king and assures him of the prayers of all the Premonstratensians, especially at Mass, with particular reference to John and his daughter. He asks John to favour the Premonstratensian brothers of St Samuel now residing in Acre and to restore them to their old abbey once it is recovered.
