Repeating Pope Gregory IX’s letter [7 April 1232], Patriarch Gerold of Jerusalem, the papal legate, mandates the archbishop of Tyre to represent him in the implementation of the pope’s orders with respect to the payment of tithes by the crown and subjects of the kingdom of Cyprus to the church of Cyprus. The absolution of those who had been excommunicated is to be entrusted to the archbishop of Nicosia and the bishop of Paphos.

Pope Gregory IX has heard that I. de Ybelino has captured Haym. de Aquino, a fidelis of the Roman Church, in a certain castle of the Knights Templar and has imprisoned him there. The pope has asked the king of Cyprus to secure the release of Haym de Aquino and have him sent to the Holy See. He orders the patriarch of Antioch, the papal legate, to persuade the king to compel I. de Ybelino to do so.

text: Jan. 28. Anagni. Pope Gregory IX recalls the efforts made over 10 years by the abbas et conventus monasterii Bellimontis, of the Cistercian Order, to recover the casale of Peregus, occupied by W. miles de Riveto. In spite of the interventions of the late Cardinal Pelagius of Albano, the papal legate, and the papacy, the case has not been resolved due to the difficulty of finding judge delegates. The abbey now has possession of the casale, but, although W. de Riveto and nearly all his family are dead, the case is not resolved. The pope orders the bishop of Tripoli, the bishop of Tortosa [Antaradensis episcopus] and the cantor Antaradensis to re-examine it.

At the request of the patriarchs of Antioch and Jerusalem, Pope Gregory IX writes to the prince of Antioch, lifting the excommunication imposed by Cardinal Pelagius of Albano because of the dispute between the prince and the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He confirms that the abbas of the Templum Domini will formally absolve the prince, now that the dispute has been satisfactorily resolved.
