year: 1234
initiator: Henry, rex Cipri
recipient: Balduynus de Morfo and the church of Nicosia
text: Aug. 1-31. Nicosia. Henry, Dei gratia rex Cipri, records and confirms under seal that his liegeman [homo ligius] Balduynus de Morfo has in his presence and with his agreement made an eleemosynary grant to the church of Nicosia of an annual rent of 120 white besants, payable in 4 instalments of 30 besants. The rent will be drawn from the assisia of 1000 white besants that King Henry gave Balduynus from the revenues of Sanctus Sabas in the territory of Paphos. In return, the church of Nicosia is held to to provide a priest to celebrate divine office for the souls of Balduinus and his predecessors. Should the assisia of 1000 besants revert to the crown or be alienated by the family of Balduinus, the king or other possessor will pay the church of Nicosia the rent of 120 besants, in the king’s case drawn on the revenues of Sanctus Sabas. Witnesses: Iohannes de Ybellino dominus Berti; Iohannes de Ybellino iunior; Balduinus de Ybellino; Hugo de Ybellino; Guillelmus vicecomes; Arneisius de Gibelet. The charter was drawn up by Bonnassalus de Aldo cancellarius regni Cypri.
