He confirms the eleemosynary grant made by his father King Aimery of Jerusalem and Cyprus, as is contained in the Order’s charter. He adds as a further eleemosynary grant rents of 200 modii of wheat, 200 metrae of wine and 400 modii of barley, to be taken each year from his casale of Lefquara, the grain at harvest and the wine at vintage. If Lefquara should pass out of royal hands, the rent will nevertheless be paid. At the request of dominus Philippus de Ybellino, Hugh, Dei gratia rex Cipri, confirms under seal an eleemosynary gift, made by Philippus, to benefit especially the soul of his mother [Queen] Maria [of Jerusalem], of an annual rent of 100 white besants [bisantii albi], 50 modii of wheat and 25 mitretae of wine, to be drawn from the returns of his casale of Prestrona, to provide for the [chantry] chaplain he has established to celebrate Mass in the church of Nicosia for his mother Maria. If Philippus should ever alienate the casale its new possessor will be obliged to keep up the annual payments.
