text: May 8. Acre. Guillelmus de Keviller, the son of dominus Petrus de Keviller, records that he gave Girinus, the prior of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem in France [Francia] a rent in return for assistance from the magister Hospitalis in gaining the release of his father, who was imprisoned in a castle of the Sarraceni commonly called Saona. Guillelmus travelled to Syria, where he met frater Guarinus de Monte Acuto magister Hospitalis, who agreed to do what he could. But in the middle of the negotiations his father died, although had he survived, his freedom would have been gained. He now confirms his gift as an eleemosynary grant in the presence of dominus Galterus castellanus de Rassa; dominus Johannes de Aubeigny; Lamfridus clericus et nuncius domini regis Francie; and Gerardus clericus et filius dominus Durandi de Fuer. He has no seal and therefore asks the prior Dominici Sepulchri, representing the patriarch of Jerusalem, to seal for him.
