text: Jul. 25. Acre. Frater A. magister domus milicie Templi, together with his brothers, comes to an agreement with frater G. magister domus Hospitalis sancti Johannis Jerosolimitani and his brothers over the waters and mills of the flumen Acconensis, which flows down from the fons Recordane. The Knights Templar can retain the water above their mill, so that the water level can rise to a mark on the mill of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. If it rises above that mark, they must take action, but cannot be held to blame when there is rain or a flood. The Hospitallers of St John promise not to dam the river to the injury of the Templars. Both Orders have the right to sail, load and unload boats [barchae], bound for Acre, as far as the barrage at the Templar mill. The Hospitallers can have boats both above and below the barrage, but will be liable for any damage done to it by them. Neither Order should do anything to impede the passage of boats. The Knights Templar can raise the river banks to the height of the mark on the Hospitaller mill. Both Orders have had this record written and sealed, and have asked H. Nazarenus archiepiscopus, R. Acconensis episcopus and O. comestabalus regni Jerosolimitani to confirm it with their seals.

text: Aug. 23. Perugia. Pope Gregory IX rebukes the magistri and brothers of the Knights Templar and Hospital of St John of Jerusalem over the way a dispute between them about certain mills has degenerated into violence, in spite of the efforts of the papal legate, the archbishop of Ravenna, to resolve it. Reminding them of their obligations, he orders them to send suitable procurators to the Holy See by the next passage in March to receive the papal judgement. He has ordered the abbas of the Templum Domini and the abbas of St Samuel to enforce this with excommunication. He also writes in the same terms to the abbas of the Templum Domini and the abbas of St Samuel in Acre.
