text: c. Feb. 17. Rome. St Peter’s. The prior and canons of the Holy Sepulchre have informed Pope Innocent III in person that when Cardinal S. of St Praxedis could not be induced to accept his election as patriarch of Jerusalem, they chose Bishop Albert of Vercelli as patriarch, insisting on their sole right as electors following the nomination of two candidates. King Aimery and the bishops have assented. The pope encourages Albert, who is in Lombardy, to agree to his election, in spite of the difficulties evident in the process.
