text: 1207 - 1208. az-Zahir Ghazi, the sultan of Aleppo, grants to the Venetians, represented by P. Marignuni, the son of J. Marignuni, safe-conduct throughout his territory. The Venetians will pay 12 per cent on the sale of all merchandise and 17 derem on each load [saoma] of cotton [bambasi]. They will pay 5-6 per cent on silver. They are freed from duties on the passage by mons Ceffam. They will have a bath house, fontigo and church in Aleppo and are confirmed in all they have in Latakia. The goods of their dead are safeguarded.
