Raymond, gracia Dei Sancti Egidii comes et Provincię marchio, prince[p]s autem, Deo auxiliante, milicie Christiane in Jerosolimitano itinere, considering his sinfulness and the very small size of his Christian force, pro diversis excessibus imbecillitatem, and in recognition of the services of Richardus sancte Romane ecclesie cardinalis et Massiliensis abbas, makes an eleemosynary grant to the abbey of St Victor of Marseille, giving, in return for the service of prayer, half of the fortified city of Gibellet, between Tripoli and Beirut, and all its appurtenances, at sea as by land, and in the port, together with the right of shipwreck. The gift is confirmed by Willelmus, Arvernensis comes; Biterrensis vicecomes B.; reverentissimus Aicardus Massiliensis [(archi)episcopus]; Narbonensis Berengarius [vicecomes], Raymond’s comilitones et consules.
