In return for the fidelity and service the Genoese, represented by the consul Guido Spinola consul de comuni and other nobles, have shown to the crown and to Christianity in the siege of Acre and the recovery of the kingdom of Jerusalem, Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierhusalem rex Latinorum VIIIus, and his wife the Lady Queen Sibylla confirm under seal for the Genoese and their commune all that they are known to have possessed in Acre before its conquest. In particular they confirm for all those inhabiting Genoa and the region from Portovenere to Monaco freedom to come and go by sea and land without the payment of dues [dricturae]. Witnesses: Conradus marchio domnus Tyri; Aimericus regius constabularius; comes Ioscelinus regni senescalcus; Hugo Tyberiadis; Gaufridus Tortus; Galganus de Cheneche; Gazellus. text: Aug 11. Lateran. Pope Clement III commissions A[delardus] Ueronensis Romane ecclesie cardinalis, [Monaldus] Fanensis episcopus and [Bonifacius] abbas Nonantulanus to be judge delegates in a dispute between the archbishop of Tyre and the plebanus of the Venetian church of St Mark in Tyre about that church’s rights in the Venetian third of Tyre. The rights that are claimed include the parochial ones of baptisms, hearing confessions, burials in the Venetian third of the city cemetery of St Michael, with its entrance from the Venetian section of the city, tithes, schools, marriages, the purification of women and the possession of spolia. The case had arisen in the pontificate of Alexander III and had been heard in the Lateran by Cardinals Teodinus and Hugo, but without resolution.

King Philip II of France, having reached Genoa on the outward passage of his crusade, confirms under seal the rights offered to the Genoese by Hugo dux Burgundie, excepting only whatever rights the king of England might have in jointly conquered territories. He refers to the following who, with Hugo, swore to observe the concessions on his behalf: Radulfus de Cuciaco, Matheus de Montemorociaco, Gualterius capellanus regis and Albericus marescalcus. Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex VIIIus, his wife the Lady Queen Sibylla make a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans, represented by magister Sibrandus, who founded this hospital during the siege of Acre. They give a house in Acre which had been a hospice for Armenians and patrones, [230] out of which can be established a hospital. If the gift of the house proves to be impossible, Guy and Sibylla will give the platea next door, where a hospital can be built. They also give 4 carrucate terre in the territory of Acre. text: Oct. 21. The chaplain [capellanus] of the archbishop of Canterbury writes to the convent of Christ Church Canterbury. The archbishop reached Tyre on 16 September and travelled to Acre. He found the Christian army in a dreadful state, torn by disputes and featuring poor moral behaviour, while hemmed in and under attack from the Turci. Saladin’s potency grows while Christian power dimishes. On 8 January the Turks killed 4000 Christian foot soldiers. Other deaths include those of the queen of Jerusalem, comes Stephanus frater archiepiscopi Remensis, comes Barensis nepos archiepiscopi Remensis, comes de Ferreres frater comitis de Clara, Bernardus junior de Sanwaleri and Randulfus de Glanvilla.

He makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of Arbonne and frater Stephanus de Corbolio. He gives a rent of 100 solidi from his land at Noiers. This he does with the agreement of the chapter of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and frater Ogerus hospitalis Iherosolimitani magnus preceptor.
