The bishop of Limassol has informed Pope Gregory IX that in the churches of Cyprus there is very little for treasurers [thesaurarii] to do and has asked that when a vacancy occurs a treasurer, who enjoys 1 and a half prebends, should be replaced by 2 canons, who would each have a full prebend, thus increasing the number of those serving the church. The pope orders the archbishop of Nicosia to authorize this, provided the chapter of the church of Limassol agrees.

The estate is situated between the casale called Auramique to the east, the casale called Marathe to the west, the casale called Sandallari to the north and the casale called Stillos to the south. The grant is made in exchange for the prestrie called le Cavallari, which Guillaume held because it was a gift from King Hugh of Cyprus to Acarie as an enlargement of his fief [fié]. King Henry has given the prestrie of le Cavallari to the archbishop and church of Nicosia, because it was claimed to be a dependency of Mendias. The king promises that if he cannot guarantee the possession by Guillaume of the 10 charruées, he will provide property of equivalent value. Pope Gregory IX writes to the barones of the kingdom of Jerusalem and the citizens of Acre, the archbishop of Ravenna, the magistri of the Knights Templar and the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, the preceptor of the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans and all the clergy in the kingdom of Jerusalem. Concerned for the safety of the Holy Land and after consulting the patriarchs of Constantinople, Antioch and Jerusalem and many other prelates, who were visiting the Holy See, and in the presence of Frederick, Romanorum imperator semper augustus, Ierusalem et Sicilie rex, he is sending the archbishop of Ravenna as papal legate to the East to enforce the peace between the emperor and the barones of Jerusalem and citizens of Acre negotiated by the patriarch of Antioch and the magister of the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans. He demands that the peace be observed and that the discord between the marescallus of the emperor and the barones and citizens cease.

Henry, Dei gratia rex Cipri, records and confirms under seal that his liegeman [homo ligius] Balduynus de Morfo has in his presence and with his agreement made an eleemosynary grant to the church of Nicosia of an annual rent of 120 white besants, payable in 4 instalments of 30 besants. The rent will be drawn from the assisia of 1000 white besants that King Henry gave Balduynus from the revenues of Sanctus Sabas in the territory of Paphos. In return, the church of Nicosia is held to to provide a priest to celebrate divine office for the souls of Balduinus and his predecessors. Should the assisia of 1000 besants revert to the crown or be alienated by the family of Balduinus, the king or other possessor will pay the church of Nicosia the rent of 120 besants, in the king’s case drawn on the revenues of Sanctus Sabas.
