Guillelmus de Marreclea and his wife Beatrix, with the consent of his father Guillelmus Rainuardi and his brothers Rainuardus and Raimundus, sells Gibertus Hospitalis magister and all the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem a castle [castellum] called Eixserc and the vallis de Luchen, together with a casale called Nubia, situated in territorio Tortosano, for 1400 besants and a further sum of 60 besants which Gibertus has given Beatrix. Guillelmus and Beatrix wish this sale to be treated as if it was an eleemosynary gift. Witnesses: -Oliverius de Nephin; Gasto de Nephin; Bertrannus de Insula; Petrus Gombaldus. Raymond III comes Tripolitanus makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital, confirming the sale, but adding that the casale of Nubia must remain a fief owing service [in feodo et servitio suo]. With the agreement of the king [Baldwin III] and his heirs and relations, Morage Raiz, forced by the need to meet debts to the king, sells the canons of the Holy Sepulchre part [pars] of his house, in which he used to have a mill [molendinum], for 120 besants and 12 modii of grain. The canons bought the house to add to their stationes next door, which they had acquired in an exchange with the Hospital of St John. They will have the right to make improvements, by inserting pillars and vaultings and by closing up doors, windows and water pipes.
