At the request of Hugo de Hybelino and with the agreement of his brother Balduinus, his sister Hermengardis domna Tyberiadis, his mother Helois and his uncles Philippus Neapolitanus, Guido Francigena and Henricus Bubalus, and of all others who have the right to concede, or have a hereditary right to, the property now being sold, Baldwin, per gratiam dei in sancta Iherusalem Latinorum rex quartus, confirms under seal the sale made by Hugo de Hybelino to the king’s brothers the canons of the Holy Sepulchre. Hugo sells to the aforesaid canons for 7,000 besants Vuetmoamel with its villani, except for the 2 casalia called Odabeb and Damersor that belong to the miles Arabicus. Included in the sale are Dersabeb and Corteis with their villani and whatever Hugo’s father had in Zimi and in the city of Bethel. These properties are freed from all servicium dominium. Baldwin, per gratiam dei in sancta Iherusalem Latinorum rex quartus, with the assent of Queen Melisende his mother and Amalricus comes Ascalonitanus his brother, confirms as a sealed eleemosynary grant the exchange made in the time of his father Fulk rex Iherosolimorum illustris, in which Johannes Patricius recorded that he had exchanged 2 of his casalia, called Megina and Mezera, for 2 casalia, called Caphermelich and Anquina, which belonged to the Holy Sepulchre. He made this exchange with the consent of Babinus from whom Johannes held his feodum and in the presence of King Baldwin and Queen Melisende. The exchange made by Johannes had been approved by his relation [cognatus] Petrosus, his wife Bruna, and his sons Thomas and Eustachius. A condition of the exchange was that if Johannes or his heirs infringed the rights of the Holy Sepulchre, such damage would be made good. Since disputes had arisen in the reign of King Fulk over the exchange, its terms are now confirmed. King Baldwin II also gave a garden situated between the sea wall and sea forewall of the city; a casale named Cafermelech in the territory of Nablus; half of the casale of Fieisse now called Casale Sancti Sepulchri, which was given by Eustachius Granerius, and all the land that Galterius, the son of Eustachius gave around the same casale, beyond the River [Jordan] as far as the designated boundaries that are recognized today. With the agreement of Melisende, King Baldwin III’s mother, and his brother Amalricus, King Fulk gave the casale of Thecua in exchange for Sanctus Lazarus in Bethania. The Holy Sepulchre will hold the casalia free of all servicium and dominium.
