The house is bordered by a house of the canons which once belonged to Willelmus drugomannus, the church of St Chariton, the via publica and the house of Theodorus. Anyone who challenges this falsely will be excommunicated and will be liable to a fine of a pound of gold payable to the royal treasury [in fiscum regium auri libram persolvat]. text: Apr. 30. Johannes primus Latinorum Tholomaide civitatis episcopus makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He remits the payment of all tithes owed in his diocese to him and his cathedral, the church of the Holy Cross. In return the brothers of the Hospital renounce a dispute they had with the church of the Holy Cross because the chief northern door of the church had been built over a house belonging to them. Having investigated through officials of the secrete [secretarii] and witnesses, with reference to the principality and the patriarchate, Fulk judges in favour of the Holy Sepulchre. Out of reverence for the relic of the True Cross, which he has brought with him to Antioch to help free the Christians, he makes an eleemosynary grant, restoring to the Holy Sepulchre the possessions it had under Byzantine rule [in tempore Grecorum], as recorded by the officials of the secrete [a secretariis nostris]. Petrus Sancti Sepulcri prior and the canons of the Holy Sepulchre sell 2 neighbouring houses, belonging respectively to Bernardus Bituricensis and Willelmus drugomannus, to Petronilla, a Hungarian woman, for 440 besants, so that a hospital [hospitale] for Hungarians can be established. The Holy Sepulchre retains preemption rights. Petronilla will be provided by the Holy Sepulchre with the equivalent of the daily refectory rations of 4 men, but as a consoror of the Holy Sepulchre she remits 2 of these in an eleemosynary grant. Hysimbardus, with the agreement of his wife Roarda, sells the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, represented by Raimundus magister, a casale called Arthabec for 500 besants. The casale is situated between the casalia of Kalensua to the east, Calodia to the south, Castellare Rogerii Longobardi to the west and Casale Latina to the north. The sale is authorized by Gualterius Cesariensis dominus, in whose territory the casale is situated, in exchange for 150 besants, and by Arnulfus de Haynis, the lord of Hysimbardus, in exchange for 60 besants. text: Dec. 25 1134 – Dec. 24 1135. Adalais, widow of the late Hugo Ebriacus, with the consent of her son Willelmus Ebriacus, makes an eleemosynary grant to the canons of the Holy Sepulchre. She has been made a consoror of the Holy Sepulchre. She gives the canons a rent of 12 besants or 120 rotula of oil a year on condition that they commemorate the obit of her husband Hugo Ebriacus each year on 5 October. Witnesses: Guidofressus; Guiniguisus; Stephanus; Bertrandus Segnoretus; Paganus ferrarius. Peregrinus wrote the charter and sealed it on the orders of his lord and his son Willelmus Ebriacus. text: Dec. 25 1134 – Dec. 24 1135. Jerusalem. In the chapter of the Holy Sepulchre. Record of an agreement made between Maria de Sancto Lazaro, the wife of Rogerius, a cliens of the Holy Sepulchre, and Bernardus, the brother of Petrus prior Sancti Sepulcri and a cliens of the patriarch. Maria had wedded her daughter to Bernardus in the presence of the chapter of the Holy Sepulchre. Her first husband Petrus had presented the daughter with a dowry of 100 besants and had invested her with the usufruct of a vineyard that he had planted. Petrus also left Bernardus a fourth part of a house situated in Jerusalem in the platea Templi next to the house of Bentulinus, to be held after his death. Another part was left to his son, although it would pass to Bernardus if the son died. Maria challenged the gift of the house. The case was heard in the chapter of the Holy Sepulchre in the presence of patriarcha Willelmus; Petrus subprior; of the canons of the Holy Sepulchre, Anselmus cantor; Goffridus thesaurarius; magister Robertus; and in the presence of Anschetinus, quondam vicecomes Hierosolymitanus; Rainaldus de Pontibus; Goiffridus Acu. They judged that Bernardus should have the fourth part of the house acquired by Maria and her second husband Rogerius after their death; similarly another fourth part should pass to Bernardus after the death of Maria’s son.
