Garinus Montis Thabor abbas, with the agreement of domnus Letardus Nazarenus archiepiscopus, of prior Lancelinus and all the chapter of Mt Tabor, comes to an agreement with Petrus dominice Resurrectionis ecclesie prior and his convent. Because of its distance from the abbey and the costs associated with it, Garinus surrenders to the Holy Sepulchre the church at casale Sancti Egidii, together with the offerings made to it and its parochial rights, and half its tithes and of those of two other casalia, called Turbasym and Dere, which Mt Tabor had been given by Patriarch William of Jerusalem for an annual rent [censualis] of 1 rota of wax. Petrus and the canons of the Holy Sepulchre purchase the vineyards, houses, buildings and moveables in the casale from Garinus for 2000 besants and they promise to provide Mt Tabor with 3 rotae of incense and 1 rota of wax each year on the Feast of the Transfiguration. Ahuhisa Palmerii domina, daughter of the late dominus Amfossius and heiress of dominus Petrus de Castello, with the agreement of her husband dominus Rainaldus makes an eleemosynary grant to the abbey of Mt Tabor and Johannes Montis Tabor abbas. She gives the houses that had been occupied by frater Pelagius at Palmerium, which is called Solinum, a new house that [abbas Johannes] constructed when he was prior there, all the property adjoining it as far as the Gate of Cayra, an oven in which no burgensis can cook, because its use is reserved to the abbey’s familia, and all the land that frater Pelagius had in the territory of Palmerium, except for a pettius terre, which lies at the foot of the mountain. Ahuhisa also gives the burgenses of Palmerium free use of their possessions according to the customs [ad usum et consuetudinem] of Buria, except that they may not sell to milites or professed religious, saving her rights as lord. Misdemeanours by familiares of the abbey will not be judged by the lord of Palmerium but by the bajulus ecclesie, although fines will be rendered to the lord of Palmerium. text: 1183. [185] In the chapter of St Paul of Antioch. Falco B. Pauli de Antiochia abbas records the establishment of a fraternal association beween his abbey and that of Mt Tabor, entered into by him and [Johannes] abbas Montis Tabor and some of his brothers. When visiting Mt Tabor the abbot of St Paul will be received as an abbot into the choir and chapter in the absence of the abbot of Mt Tabor and will have the right to absolve brothers from excommunication. The advice of the abbot of St Paul can be offered and his assent will be required, after those of the archbishop of Nazareth and king of Jerusalem, to the election of a new abbot of Mt Tabor. If there is no agreement the electors will make their election in the church of St Paul. When an abbot of Mt Tabor dies his death will be commemorated in St Paul. Monks of Mt Tabor visiting St Paul will be treated as brothers in the church, the abbey, the chapter and the refectory. A monk leaving Mt Tabor after a dispute will be received into St Paul, but he should make confession and be sanctioned there. No one will be received whom has lost the favour of both the abbey and convent of Mt Tabor. The deaths of monks of Mt Tabor will be commemorated in St Paul. If the principality of Antioch should be overrun by the Turci and the prince exiled, the monks of St Paul will be received into Mt Tabor and will be provided for. The abbots and monks of Mt Tabor and St Paul will have the reciprocal rights.
