With the approval of Patriarch Arnulf and the barones of the kingdom, Baldwin, dei gratia Latinitatis Iherosolimorum rex, makes an eleemosynary grant, confirming the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat together with abbas Hugo in all its lands [in the city of Jerusalem]; and the pool of Siloam and the houses and gardens it has within the walls of Jerusalem. Baldwin confirms its possession of 4 carrucae of land at Jaffa and 2 carrucae at Acre and a casale called Aschar near Nablus. He also confirms the gifts made by others. Lambertus gave a casale called Soesme, situated above the river [Jordan] which is popularly called the river of the Devil, with the consent of Goscelinus princeps Tyberiadis, and Willelmus de Buris, who gave the casale to Lambertus.
