text: Mar. 2. Lateran. The patriarch of Jerusalem, the papal legate, has asked for licence to translate the bishop of Paphos to the archbishopric of Nazareth. The bishop fell ill at Paphos and is anyway ignorant of the language and rites of the Greci, who make up the population of his diocese. Pope Gregory IX agrees to the patriarch’s request.

He gives an annual rent of 200 white besants, assigned on the revenues of the casale called Morfites, payable at harvest time [tempore arearum] in August. If the rent cannot be paid, it will be made up from other revenues in the kingdom of Cyprus. The church of Nicosia is held to provide a priest to celebrate the divine office for the soul of Hugo perpetually.
