Hugh, per Dei gratiam rex Cypri, confirms under seal an eleemosynary gift, made by Johannes de Balma with the agreement of his mother Agnes to frater Garinus de Monte Acuto magister sanctae domus hospitalis sancti Johannis and the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. With King Hugh’s authority Johannes gives a pecia terre which adjoins a casale of the Hospital of St John called More in the territory of Nicosia [Nicoss), the prastia Sancti Sergii, Crionerou and the land of the prastia of the brother of the raicius Johannes. The pecia terre stretches as far as the river called Pechea. text: Sept. 1-30. Hugh, Dei gratia rex Cypri, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to frater Garinus de Monte Acuto magister sancte domus Hospitalis sancti Joannis and the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He gives: the casale of Platanistias, situated in the territory of Paphos, with all rights, including villani, chevagii, dimi; the casale called Colos in the territory of Limassol, with all the rights, including villani, chevagii and dimi, that were held by Garinus de Colos, who has willingly surrendered them in exchange for another grant from the king; the prastia Monagrole, situated in the territory of Limassol, with all the land Hardewinus held there and with all rights, including villani, chevagii and dymi. King Hugh makes a further eleemosynary grant, to benefit the soul of his father King Aimery, of a prastia called Finica in the territory of Paphos with all rights, including villani, chevagii and dymi.He grants all the chevagia and dymi of the villani and their heirs in these lands. At the request of frater Guillelmus de Belna, preceptor domus Hospitalis in Cypro, he allows the commandery [domus] of the Hospital in Nicosia, together with the community [domus] of Mora and that of S. Georgius, to grind wheat [bladum] in his mill de la Questria without the payment of dues. He gives the Hospital of St John the houses and plateae that had belonged to Lambita Sabastos and his sister in Limassol. He gives a garden in Limassol, adjoining the houses of Guischon Span and Girardus de Maske and the bath house. He gives the Hospitallers the right to buy and sell their goods throughout Cyprus without the payment of dues. text: Sept. 1-30. Limassol. Hugh, dei gratia rex Cyprie, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to frater Armannus magister domus sancte Marie Theutonicorum in Jerusalem and the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans. He confirms the eleemosynary grant made by his father King Aimery of Jerusalem and Cyprus, as is contained in the Order’s charter. He adds as a further eleemosynary grant rents of 200 modii of wheat, 200 metrae of wine and 400 modii of barley, to be taken each year from his casale of Lefquara, the grain at harvest and the wine at vintage. If Lefquara should pass out of royal hands, the rent will nevertheless be paid. Witnesses: dominus Johannes de Hybelino dominus Berithi; dominus Philippus de Hybelino frater eius; dominus Galterus de Cesarea Cyprie conestabulus; dominus Galterus de Betsan; dominus Gormondus de Betsan; dominus Petrus Chape; dominus Jacobus de Rivet. At the request of dominus Philippus de Ybellino, Hugh, Dei gratia rex Cipri, confirms under seal an eleemosynary gift, made by Philippus, to benefit especially the soul of his mother [Queen] Maria [of Jerusalem], of an annual rent of 100 white besants [bisantii albi], 50 modii of wheat and 25 mitretae of wine, to be drawn from the returns of his casale of Prestrona, to provide for the [chantry] chaplain he has established to celebrate Mass in the church of Nicosia for his mother Maria. If Philippus should ever alienate the casale its new possessor will be obliged to keep up the annual payments.
