text: Aug. 23. Genoa. In the archiepiscopal palace. Willelmus marchio Montisferrati promises four consuls of Genoa to maintain and protect the church and people of Genoa and their possessions and to help them recover their properties in the East, with the following exceptions. He will not make war on their behalf. He will not intervene when a case involves the county of Jaffa; and when it is one that involves properties confiscated by the king, although he is prepared to give advice. Witnessed by nine Genoese, including Guarinus preceptor Hospitalis in Lombardia.
