text: Aug. 4. Lateran. Writing to the prior de Giragunnis Antiochene diocesis, Magister Obertus Antiochenus canonicus and Boninus Valaniensis canonicus, Pope Honorius III recalls how he had ordered the archbishop of Apamea [Appamiensis archiepiscopus], the decanus Antiochenus and the cantor Antiochenus to provide a benefice for magister W. Iporiensis canonicus in some church overseas [in the East]. The archbishop and the cantor had approached the bishop and chapter of Tripoli, but the latter had declined, for frivolous reasons, and had appointed to the canonry G. Anglicus. Magister W. had appealed and the case had been heard by O., a papal chaplain, but in the meantime G. died. The pope orders his correspondents to compel the bishop and chapter of Tripoli to proceed with the conferment of the canonry on magister W.
