He reports that many crusaders have returned home after the capture of Jerusalem. Others, who stayed until Easter, have left in Pisan and English ships. Mercenaries, who have to be very well rewarded, are defending Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jaffa, Tiberias, Samaria, the castle of Hebron, Ramla, beati martyris Georgii sacratae, and other fortified places until financial help comes from Germans and Latins.
